DOUBLE Tokens inside
THESE young football players are looking to score big in an annual cash giveaway.
Mintlaw Boys Club have registered for this year’s Communitee Chest in a bid to net a share of £15,000.
Committee member Mary Hay said: “The club is constantly growing and it would be great to get the extra money to keep it going.”
The club is made up of 180 kids who range from primary one to third year of secondary school.
Mary said the boys tend to play at football festivals and they hope the money could be put towards growing their ball skills.
She added: “There are 11 teams and they train once a week – but it gets hard to fit 60 kids in one field.
“We’re hoping to put the money into extra training sessions to help them progress with their game and to get them new kits.
“A kit can easily cost around £900 for one, but thankfully some of them are sponsored.
“The boys need an away kit and a home kit, and with the club always growing, we need all the help we can get.”
Chairman Richard Hay said he is eager for the club to strike it lucky and take home funds.
The Mintlaw group has been rallying support by posting on their Facebook page and telling friends and family to collect tokens every day in the Evening Express.
The groups entering Communitee Chest who collect the most tokens in each category will walk away with between £500 and £5,000. Groups with 30 members or fewer have the chance to land £500, those with between 31 and 60 could take home £1,000 and groups with more than 61 members are in with a chance of bagging £5,000.
