POLICE are appealing for help after yobs smashed up playground equipment at a North-east school.

Strathburn Primary School in Inverurie was targeted by vandals between 1pm and 2.15pm last Saturday, where a glass door and playground items were damaged.

School staff reported the incident to police on Monday morning and the damage cost the school several hundred pounds to repair.

Police Scotland said five boys were seen in the playground around the time of the damage was caused and have asked for witnesses to get in touch.

Pc Stephen Coutts, who is the investigating officer, said: “This type of anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Reckless behaviour such as this causes unnecessary damage to the school and anxiety within the local community. We are urgently looking to trace the individuals seen nearby to assist with the inquiry.

“I would ask that if anyone has any information they call us on 101 quoting reference 0676 of September 11.”

Vandalism: Strathburn Primary School.
