Scottish businesses to become waste warriors in bid to help environment
SCOTTISH businesses have come together to help the environment as “waste warriors”. More than 200 Scottish businesses, groups and organisations have signed up to back Zero Waste Scotland’s Recycle Week 2017, with plenty space for local businesses and organisations in Aberdeenshire to get involved too.
Recycle Week is the annual Uk-wide campaign to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, with people all over Aberdeenshire encouraged to recycle as much as they can. While recycling numbers have improved recently, around 60% of household waste is still not recycled and Zero Waste Scotland want to encourage everyone to do their bit.
Iain Gulland, Zero Waste Scotland’s chief executive, said: ”While recycling in Scotland has vastly improved over the past few years, there is definitely still more to be done.”
He also added that Recycle Week is the perfect opportunity for everyone in Aberdeenshire to play their part and become a waste warrior. Recycle Week will take place from September 25 to October 1, and businesses can play their part by hosting events, introducing new recycling services or even just sharing Zero Waste Scotland’s social media posts.
