event was emotional for former patient Mairi Hide of Kingswells.
She said: “It brings it all back seeing the nurses and doctors again.
“I was on the machine for just over a month after having been ill for a while, and nobody knew what was wrong.
“I got worse and worse until the doctor suggested that the only thing left to do was to try the ECMO machine, until they could figure out a diagnosis. After three weeks on the machine, they finally diagnosed me with a form of vasculitis and could treat it properly – the difference was night and day, I was back.
“These doctors are incredible.”
