Drivers warned of diversions as busy route shuts for work on bypass
A BUSY North-east road was to close for the weekend today for work on the Aberdeen bypass.
The A93 North Deeside Road was to shut from 8pm tonight until 5am on Monday to the west of Milltimber Brae for surfacing work. Drivers travelling from Aberdeen to Culter can take a diversion via the A93 Great Western Road, Springfield Road, Queen’s Road, A944 Skene Road, B9119 Tarland Road and the B979 Malcolm Road, at which point they can rejoin the A93 west of the closure. Motorists going from Culter to Aberdeen can do the reverse. Transport Scotland said motorists looking to travel south will be able to access the B979 at Milltimber Brae under temporary traffic signals.
A spokesman for First Bus said its services would be affected by the closures.
“Due to the road closure, the normal 19 service will be running but will terminate near the new bridge at Milltimber Brae. A shuttle bus will run from the Albyn School playing fields to Culter.”
