Vol­un­teers wanted to help re­turn of his­toric city stu­dent led pa­rade

VOL­UN­TEERS are be­ing sought for a his­toric and much-loved stu­dent pa­rade.

It was re­vealed last week by the Evening Ex­press the Torcher Pa­rade was to re­turn af­ter be­ing can­celled last year. Aberdeen Uni­ver­sity Stu­dents’ As­so­ci­a­tion is now seek­ing vol­un­teers to be part of the re­turn of the 120-year-old tra­di­tion. The stu­dent-led pa­rade is look­ing for sup­port from the peo­ple of Aberdeen with help­ing to stew­ard the pa­rade, to en­sure that as many stu­dents as pos­si­ble can take part. In par­tic­u­lar, pre­vi­ous vol­un­teers, alumni and friends of the Uni­ver­sity of Aberdeen are be­ing called upon to lend a hand. The pa­rade, which takes place on Oc­to­ber 21 from 6pm, will pro­ceed down Union Street from Al­byn Place to King Street.

The Torcher was can­celled last year due to po­ten­tial is­sues with traf­fic man­age­ment and a suit­able date was not agreed upon for reschedul­ing. Any­one who is in­ter­ested in get­ting in­volved in the pa­rade is asked to get in touch with the stu­dent as­so­ci­a­tion by e-mail­ing RAG@abdn. ac.uk
