Charity celebrates hitting 40th birthday milestone
A SOCIAL housing charity is celebrating a milestone birthday this year. Langstane Housing Association is marking its 40th anniversary after decades of helping vulnerable and homeless people.
The organisation’s first office was a former dairy on George Street and now sits in a purpose-built office in Seaton.
Before 1981, the only place homeless women could go were unsuitable night shelters, however, Langstane introduced women-only hostels.
Recently, Langstane’s longest serving member of staff celebrated 30 years of service.
The charity has also captured its history in a film.
