Turnout expected to be poor at polls as community votes in new councillor
VOTES were today being counted following a by-election to elect a new councillor. Candidates have been pounding the streets of Inverurie and District over the last two weeks in a bid to gain the vote of the electorate in the Aberdeenshire Council by-election.
The vote was sparked after sitting Conservative councillor Colin Clark offered his resignation following his win in the Gordon constituency at the General Election on June 8 this year.
Turnout in the snap election was believed to be low. A total of six polling places were used for the vote. The result is expected to be declared later today following the count at the Garioch Sports Centre in Inverurie.
