Char­ity’s plea for peo­ple to do­nate goods to stores in time for Christ­mas rush

A CHIL­DREN’S char­ity is urg­ing peo­ple of to clear out their toy shelves in prepa­ra­tion for Christ­mas to help less for­tu­nate fam­i­lies. Barnardo’s Scot­land’s nine Aberdeen and Aberdeen­shire stores are ask­ing for do­na­tions of toys and games, as well as any un­wanted gifts, to sup­port lo­cal chil­dren, young peo­ple and fam­i­lies.

The char­ity is keen to re­ceive do­na­tions of un­used toys, games and presents from over the years as well as toys that have al­ready had a lov­ing home.with Christ­mas around the cor­ner, these do­na­tions prove pop­u­lar in stores as cus­tomers look for presents at rea­son­able prices. Area business man­ager Mag­da­lene Davie said: “We sell a lot of toys and games at this time of the year and are re­ally grate­ful for the gen­er­ous do­na­tions from lo­cal peo­ple. “It’s amaz­ing what peo­ple un­earth when they start look­ing in the back of cup­board and at the bot­tom of the toy box – it’s a good ex­cuse to have a clear out at home.”

She added: “We’d like to thank all of our cus­tomers and donors for their con­tin­ued sup­port, which re­ally does make a dif­fer­ence to so many lo­cal chil­dren’s lives.” Barnardo’s Scot­land has six stores around Aberdeen city and a fur­ther three in Aberdeen­shire, in­clud­ing stores in Peter­head, In­verurie and Portlethen.
