It’s up to par­ents to tell kids not to buy from vans

IN ALL the fuss over the co­on­cil’s daft idea of mak­ing food vans move ev­ery night a wee change has oc­curred al­most un­no­ticed. The ban on them op­er­at­ing near schools has now been dropped. So kids are free to, once again, choose chips and burg­ers over the healthy op­tions on the school menu. Now, no doubt par­ents will be aghast. How dare their dar­lings get ac­cess to greasy fried food at school. Here’s a thought, if you don’t want them eat­ing it, tell them not to. That’s your job af­ter all, not the teacher’s and not the burger van man’s.
