Donations to pay for a day at Maggie’s Centre
A NORTH-EAST cancer support centre has received a donation worth thousands of pounds – enough to support dozens of people affected by the disease.
It costs the Maggie’s Centre, based in the Foresterhill Health Campus beside Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, £2,400 to fund its operation each day.
A donation from Aberdeen Standard Investments’ charitable organisation has now provided that sum as part of the centre’s Pay for a Day scheme.
The facility offers a drop-in service for patients, family and friends affected by cancer, providing a range of activities including exercise classes, stress management courses and support groups.
Every day around 60 people benefit from the care at Maggie’s Aberdeen. Centre head Susan Sutherland said: “This incredible donation will make a meaningful, lasting impact upon the lives of people who visit Maggie’s.” Claire Drummond, head of charitable giving at the foundation, said: “We are proud to support the Maggie’s Centre in Aberdeen.”
