Councillor hits out over delay to roadworks
AN ABERDEEN councillor has raised concerns over the delay to roadworks on a busy city street. Councillor Michael Hutchison, who represents the George Street and Harbour ward, expressed his frustration over news of a further hold-up to work on Queen Street and said he fears it will push pack the reopening of Broad Street, which is currently expected to open again in May.
A series of resurfacing works are being carried out on Queen Street and a Traffic Regulation Order has been changed to last until July.
Mr Hutchison said: “It’s ridiculous that this twomonth project looks like it will now last five months. Either Broad Street will be closed for longer or we’ll see diverted traffic continuing to drive over partially closed pavements.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “It is aimed to have Queen Street reopen in July and the closure order has been extended to July 2018 due to issues arising from ground conditions.”
