Drilling firm awarded ex­ten­sion on con­tract

A NORTH-EAST oil and gas com­pany has an­nounced that it has been granted an ex­ten­sion on a ma­jor Nor­we­gian con­tract.

The ex­ten­sion, which is for its op­er­a­tion KCA Deu­tag Drilling Norge AS, is on the Ringhorne plat­form in the Nor­we­gian North Sea and will al­low for vi­tal main­te­nance work to be done.

An ini­tial term of four years has been granted to the com­pany with the op­tion to ex­tend by two fur­ther pe­ri­ods of two years each.

Rune Lorentzen, pres­i­dent of off­shore for the com­pany, said: “KCA Deu­tag is de­lighted to have been awarded this con­tract ex­ten­sion.

“We have been the drilling con­trac­tor on the Ringhorne plat­form since it was first com­mis­sioned back in 2002, and we are pleased that the qual­ity of our per­for­mance has once again been recog­nised.”

KCA Deu­tag is cur­rently re­spon­si­ble for the man­age­ment of drilling and main­te­nance op­er­a­tions on 32 plat­forms. Ear­lier this month the firm was awarded a new drilling con­tract on five plat­forms.
