WEB­STER is charged with form­ing a fraud­u­lent scheme to pocket cash from in­surance com­pa­nies by mur­der­ing his wife be­tween Fe­bru­ary 1990 and July 1994. He was al­leged to have formed a re­la­tion­ship with Claire Morris, mar­ried her and be­gan drug­ging her with Temazepam be­tween Fe­bru­ary 1990 and May 1994. Dur­ing this pe­riod he was al­leged to have in­duced his part­ner to ded­i­cate her es­tate to him in a will and take out a string of in­surance poli­cies. Be­tween May 27 and 28, 1994, Web­ster is ac­cused of drug­ging wife Claire, putting her in a car and crash­ing the ve­hi­cle on the Auchen­huive to Tarves Road at Kin­goodie. Web­ster, pic­tured, was al­leged to have torched the car and al­lowed it to burn, mur­der­ing his wife. He was fur­ther al­leged to have told four wit­nesses at the scene that he had been trav­el­ling alone in the car, de­spite know­ing his wife was in­side. Web­ster was then al­leged to have cashed in a string of his dead wife's poli­cies, ob­tain­ing £208,815.60 by fraud and cashed in her pen­sion, pock­et­ing a fur­ther £10,439.12. The 51-year-old was then al­leged to have hatched a sec­ond fraud­u­lent plan when he struck up a re­la­tion­ship with Felic­ity Drumm at a string of lo­ca­tions be­tween the North-east and New Zealand. He was al­leged to have started the ro­mance in May 1996 and started drug­ging her with drug Clon­azepam be­tween July 1996 and Fe­bru­ary 1999. Web­ster was said to have forged three life in­surance poli­cies in his new wife's name be­tween June and Au­gust 1997 and in­duced her to make a will as­sign­ing her es­tate to him in Jan­uary 1999. In Fe­bru­ary 1999 Web­ster was al­leged to have caused a car ac­ci­dent with his wife as a pas­sen­ger in Auck­land, New Zealand, in a bid to mur­der her. The crash was al­leged to have been part of a plan to ob­tain £514,026 and NZ$500,000 if she had died. He was fur­ther al­leged to have ob­tained thou­sands of pounds by fraud through other poli­cies be­fore mov­ing on to an­other re­la­tion­ship. Web­ster was al­leged to have hatched an­other scheme to en­ter into a big­a­mous mar­riage with Si­mone Ba­nar­jee from Au­gust 2004. He was said to have asked the woman to marry him in Septem­ber 2006 af­ter falsely telling her he had cancer from Oc­to­ber 2005. Miss Ba­nar­jee was al­leged to have been in­duced to al­lo­cate her en­tire es­tate to Web­ster in her will in Fe­bru­ary
