Evening Express (Extra Edition) - - DRIVE - By Ken McKenzie

GRAMMAR U-13s staged a second-half fightback to earn a deserved share of the points in this league match at Portlethen.

The home side started the stronger and nearly took an early lead.

Reece Chalmers sent a crossfield pass to Aiden Cran on the edge of the box but Aidan Hodgkins held his low drive.

Portlethen took the lead early on after CRAN bulleted the ball into the net.

In an effort to stem the flow Grammar brought on Crawford in midfield in place of a striker as they held out until half-time.

(Half-time: 1-0)

The visitors were nearly caught on the break when Chalmers lofted a high ball to Matthew Kidd but the goalkeeper did well to smother his lobbed shot just underneath the crossbar.

It was now backs to the wall for Portlethen as they tried to hold on to their slender lead.

Grammar grabbed the equaliser with a neat overhead kick from Lachie MCLEOD.
