Bowlers target glory in West Lothian
NATIONAL men’s and women’s pairs, triples and fours semi-finals and finals are being played at West Lothian this weekend.
Turriff’s women are in the pairs and triples.
Frances Thomson and Nettie Robertson line up against World Bowls finalist Lorraine Malloy and Sharon Leitch, of Balbardie, in the semi-final.
This won’t be easy, but the wily Nettie has been round the course before.
In the triples, Kathleen Gordon, Val Wade and Elizabeth Fraser’s encounter with East Fife’s Lesley Gordon, Kathleen McAndrew and Celia Smith should be interesting, with half the field internationals.
Stonehaven’s Daniel Colvin, David Baillie and Paul Hay have done really well to gain a place in the triples semi-final and face Cumbernauld.
Elgin play in both men’s and women’s fours.
Vera Cruickshank, Isobel Smith, Isobel Laing and skip Melanie Cruickshank are to the fore in the women’s event and take on Whiteinch.
A strong Moray quartet of Graeme Donaldson, Norman Barker, Andrew Barker and Mike Stepney have a game on their hands against East Lothian’s Mark Johnston, Malcolm Higgenbotham, Jamie Higgins and Derek Oliver.
SLIDING IN: Cheryl Anderson is stopped in her tracks.
