Roads to close for pa­rade

DRIV­ERS were t oday warned sev­eral Aberdeen roads would be closed ahead of the an­nual stu­dent Torcher pa­rade tonight.

More than a dozen streets were to be af­fected in and around the pa­rade route, in­clud­ing Berry Street, School­hill, Rose­mount Viaduct and Car­den Place.

A city coun­cil spokesman said: “The roads will be closed to all non-pa­rade traf­fic dur­ing the set­ting up and pro­ces­sion of the pa­rade, at the dis­cre­tion of the po­lice – and will be sub­ject to park­ing re­stric­tions at the dis­cre­tion of po­lice and or­gan­is­ers.”

The roads were ex­pected to be closed be­tween 5.30pm and 11pm.

Park­ing re­stric­tions were due to be in place be­tween 4pm and 11pm.
