ABERDEEN’S Lord Provost has described the royal wedding as a “scintillating occasion” after taking his seat in Westminster Abbey. Peter Stephen was one of a number guests in the congregation from the North-east, with British Airways executive Phyllis Stuart also attending. Cllr Stephen said: “It was a wonderful, colourful, moving and joyful ceremony. “The couple themselves looked relaxed and comfortable. Kate was as beautiful as she generally is.” And Cllr Stephen said he had a good view from his seat in the historic abbey, adding: “It was a scintillating occasion.” The Lord Provost was due to fly straight from London to Houston today for the Offshore Technology Conference 2011.
