Dental care has to be top priority
COMMENT NEWS: Kids’ teeth not examined – Page 15
GIVING our kids the best start in life means keeping them fit and healthy – and regular dental check-ups must be part of that. It is encouraging, then, that the number of North-east children being seen by an NHS dentist has soared over the past year. But it is clear that much work still needs to be done, with the target for every primary one child to be examined still not being met in our area. And it is worrying that we are trailing behind the rest of Scotland in the number of three to five-year-olds – and adults – registered with an NHS dentist. It is clear whoever forms the next Scottish Government has to make decent dental care for the North-east a priority.
