‘Help small businesses’

Evening Express (Extra Edition) - - FAMILY MEMORIES -

THE next government was urged today to give its support to small businesses. All the parties have set out ways in which they want to help economies in individual regions grow. The Federation of Small Businesses has produced its own manifesto, which calls for more improvement to infrastructure such as road networks. It also wants to see changes to the way the public sector awards contracts, giving more weighting to firms that are based in the local area. Andy Willox, convener of Scottish policy at the FSB who is based in Aberdeen, said: “79,000 jobs in the last 10 years have been created by small businesses. “They are incredibly important to the economy.”
