Sil­ver City fes­ti­val set for launch

THE win­ners of the 2011 Aberdeen Artists’ So­ci­ety ex­hi­bi­tion have been an­nounced.

The first prize of £5,000 was won by Stephen Shank­land for his paint­ing The Key, which Shell judges said was so vivid it came to life.

A free ex­hi­bi­tion of the en­tries is open to the pub­lic un­til Mon­day, May 30, at Aberdeen Art Gallery. ABERDEEN’S month-long Gran­ite Fes­ti­val will be launched on Mon­day.

The open­ing event will fea­ture a dis­play of ma­sonry tech­niques be­ing used to re­store Marischal Col­lege at Provost Skene's House.

Coun­cil cu­ra­tor for in­dus­try Jenny Brown said: “We have a full pro­gramme of talks, walks and events.”
