Jobs set to be axed at Duff House

Evening Express (Extra Edition) - - NEWS -

STAFF at a North-east art gallery have been warned they could lose their jobs from next month.

Aberdeenshire Council wants to cut £88,000 from the budget of Banff’s Duff House. The 26 staff were told management and administrative jobs are to go.

A council spokesman would not say how many jobs could be axed but said councillors had agreed to review costs set in the November 2010 budget.

He said: “Duff House does not make enough money to cover its costs, with deficit-funding paid by the council. As they stand, the proposals are expected to save the council £88,000 a year.

“The proposals have been discussed with the partners who appreciate the need for the council to deliver savings.”

A staff consultation ends on September 7 after which staff comments will be considered before any changes are made.
