Council to cap stench from dump
THE end is in sight for foul odours making residents’ lives a misery in a Northeast town.
Aberdeenshire Council has been trying for years to deal with the stench from the Crow’s Nest tip on the outskirts of Banchory.
Councillors on the Marr area committee have now approved costs of a capping project to help control the noxious smell.
The problem brought complaints from residents and businesses who had to keep windows closed.
The council hired consultants at a cost of £120,000 to help identify the best way to seal the site. The site should be odour-free by spring.
