KATE JOHN­SON and her part­ner Ben Wal­ters and Neil Shelford and his part­ner Ro­han Pynor teamed up to ex­tend their ad­join­ing for­mer silk work­ers’ cot­tages in Beth­nal Green, thus avoid­ing those all-too-com­mon dis­putes with the neigh­bours.

They both en­larged their kitchens, with Kate and Ben tak­ing up a side re­turn while Neil and Ro­han ex­tended into their garden. Kate and Ben then added an ex­tra bed­room above, so they could start a fam­ily, while Ro­han and Neil en­larged ex­ist­ing rooms to give them­selves more liv­ing space. Both cou­ples added about £300,00 to the value of their homes
