Mystery US tycoon buys Frescobaldi pile
A PRESTIGIOUS estate in Tuscany, owned by the Italian family behind Ristorante Frescobaldi in Mayfair, has been purchased by a mystery American tycoon.
The Frescobaldis, Italy’s oldest and most respected wine dynasty, sold the majestic Villa Bibbiani, above, for £8.7 million.
The buyer plans to invest the same figure again on renovation and new business opportunities. Agents Lionard Luxury Real Estate say this follows a popular trend for US entrepreneurs who are seeking properties in Italy.
The 940-acre estate includes the spectacular villa with two towers plus a farm with houses, along with stables, a 19th-century botanical garden with oriental plants and a romantic park. The stunning retreat is also equipped with cellars for olive oil and wine production. Bellissimo!
