Winnie was a frequent visitor during the Second World War at Boss Lane House, above, as the sprawling Buckinghamshire estate near High Wycombe was used as a Cabinet war office. Music hall star Lillie Langtry, Edward VII’s mistress when he was Prince of Wales, is said to have lived there in the late 19th century.
