My mother Haidee Becker is an in­cred­i­bly tal­ented artist. I have so many of her still life paint­ings around my home and at the restau­rant. This oil paint­ing of a squid is just beau­ti­ful.

Th­ese lights are a stroke of ge­nius. They’re for light­ing out­door steps but I love the de­sign. They’re per­fect for get­ting light onto the work surface when I’m cook­ing.

This beau­ti­ful whale ash­tray be­longed to my grand­mother. It came from her fl at in Sper­longa on the west coast of Italy. I love the whale’s smile.

This cook book was handed down from my grand­mother. I’m not sure if she ever tried it but it has the fi rst pub­lished recipe for hash brown­ies.
