The Sausage Roll and Cider award for Simple Things Done Superbly: Barnyard

Evening Standard - West End Final Extra - ES Magazine - - Grace And Flavour Awards -

Yes, it’s an agriculturally themed, noreservations restaurant on Charlotte Street. Yes, a walk to the cellar bathroom, down an alley of distressed corrugated iron, is like being in a Disney ‘Old MacDonald’s Farm’ fun house. But forget all this: the food is wonderful. Bubble and squeak with black pudding and apple chutney; homemade sausage roll served with piccalilli; sticky chicken wings swimming in a pool of paprika, garlic and lemon. Hedgerow shandy made with Wyld Wood cider, sloe gin and pink grapefruit. Barnyard is a lot of fun. Grace Dent does not generally queue for dinner, but she does queue for dinner here. Damn these people. (barnyard-london.com)
