Dee will need put a shift in

- BY BARRY SMITH

DUNDEE’S Paul McGowan believes if they are to take anything from tomorrow’s game against Celtic, then the whole team will have to perform.

The game against the Hoops comes on the back of a disappointing result at Inverness where very few Dee players got pass marks.

“We can’t afford any passengers tomorrow,” said McGowan.

“Everyone in the team must be on top of their game.

“If we work to our gameplan and everyone does their jobs, then we will have a chance. “Anything can happen.” The Dundee players could well be forgiven for dreading a game against an in-form Celtic team, who went toe-totoe with the billionaires of Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek

However, McGowan insists they will not be going into the clash with an inferiority complex.

“We are all looking forward to the game but we know it is a big task.

“There is a belief in the dressingroom we can win but we’re not naive enough to think we can just go out and turn Celtic over. “We’ve looked sharp in training. “The way we train is high intensity every day but we need to take that into the game.”

Celtic are a formidable team and, apart from inside the Dens dressingroom and the home fans, they will be expected to take all three points back to Glasgow but that will suit the Dark Blues according to McGowan. He said: “No one gives us a chance. “The manager has said we are going to have a go at them.

“If we’re going to lose, I’d rather get beat having a go.”

The attacking midfielder believes they can capitalise on Celtic’s efforts in their draw against Man City but also knows how strong a squad Brendan Rodgers has at his disposal.

“Tomorrow’s game might be a massive comedown for them after playing in front of 60,000 fans in midweek.

“You saw the shift they put in, so we hope they are a little tired and, if we press them, they might make mistakes.

“We really need to be ready for anything, though.

“They have a very strong squad and can change like for like all over the park.
