Road junction could have been planned better

-

DRIVING east along the Kingsway it struck me again the layout at the Forfar Road junction has been badly planned.

It doesn’t seem to matter what time of day you are there, the traffic tails back along the left-hand lane of Kingsway to almost the Old Glamis Road circle.

I now know to take the righthand lane and usually drive right through the junction with very few delays. But if I lived out Forfar Road way I’d be driven to despair.

A left-hand feeder lane appears about 100 yards from the junction, but this just isn’t long enough for its purpose.

Forfar Road is two lanes, so why can’t traffic turning left from Kingsway not just drive into the inside lane without having to wait for the lights?

Traffic turning right from Kingsway would still be traffic light controlled and have the right hand lane to turn in to. This would ease some of the congestion.

Look again.
