Nintendo coup for D&A College
DUNDEE & Angus College welcomed a representative of Nintendo this week and the students impressed James Steele, a senior software engineer with the gaming industry giant.
Nearly 100 HNC computing games development students queued to hear his talk on “Optimisation” — just a fortnight shy of the launch of the new Switch console.
James ran a question and answer session and was pleasantly surprised at the standard of inquiries from the students. He said: “I like to open the floor and talk on a face-to-face level, as this usually helps people open up. It certainly did today.”
D&A staff considered having a representative of the firm that created Mario, the Game Boy and Wii, a real coup as Nintendo doesn’t run college visits.
James, normally based in Frankfurt, said: “I was at school with lecturer Pauline Belford, so was happy to come to Gardyne.”
