Jeanfield delighted to host glamour cup-tie

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

JEANFIELD Swifts Ladies welcome Scottish champions Glasgow City to Perth on Sunday in the League Cup.

The match kicks off at 4pm on the McDiarmid Park fieldturf.

It’s a great draw for Jeanfield as City have won the SWPL1 title 10 years running and are seasoned Champions League campaigners, reaching the last 16 in 2016.

They will list a host of international players from home and abroad in their squad and the game will see the return to her home city for Lauren McMurchie.

Jeanfield general manager Steve Grossi said: “When the cup was seeded, we really wanted a home tie and are delighted to get the chance to welcome a team with the European stature of City. This will allow our girls to test themselves against a side full of international players.

“It is mark of the level we now play at that we are up against a team like City and it is a huge deal for women’s football in the area to have them come here.

“We are now hoping to showcase the team and the club positively in this fixture.”

DUSC Girls U/11s won all three of their games at a festival in Dalgety Bay. The youngsters did well in inclement weather conditions.

Jeanfield’s Eilidh McIntyre takes on a Hibs Development defender during the Perth side’s 3-0 home friendly loss.
