Narrow win for ’Burgh

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

DRYBURGH defeated Letham 1-0 in an U/15 friendly at Seven Acres, Perth.

The Perth girls started the game well and looked confident when passing the ball around.

Dryburgh, who had Sasha Craig and Grace Forrester making their U/15 debuts, started to apply more attacking pressure but both defences stood firm until half-time.

After being encouraged to step it up a gear, the Letham girls did just that with Mikaela WIlson and Caelan Clarke looking the closest to scoring.

Against the run of play, good skill allowed Dryburgh’s Nyla Jay Murphy enough room to shoot and her effort crept into the bottom corner.

Letham were even more determined to find the equaliser they so deserved but frustration showed in front of goal and it finished 1-0 to the Dundee side.

The match was played in a very sporting manner and credit must go the girls for this.

The game was a fantastic advert for girls football within the East Region with both teams looking sharp ahead of the new season.

Dryburgh Athletic girls are still looking for new players at U/11 level. Contact dryburghgirls@gmail. com
