‘No issues with water supplies’

-

FEARS of a water shortage in Fife because of an unusually dry spring have been dismissed.

Scottish Water, which maintains r e s e r vo i rs across the region, says levels at its water bodies remain “generally high” despite national concerns about a lack of rainfall in recent weeks.

London and parts of southern England have been worst affected by the dry spell, and there have been warnings of a potential hosepipe ban should a dramatic turn in the weather not be forthcoming. However, Scottish Water has moved to allay fears of a similar situation in Fife, saying the dry weather is yet to significantly i mpact on the region’s water supplies.

A spokesperson for the f i r m s a i d : “R e s e r vo i r stocks are generally high and there are no customer supply issues arising from a lack of water resources.

“There i s nowhere of particular concern at present and we monitor the levels i n our raw water sources and have plans in place should resources fall below normal levels.”
