Trio of Hawks league titles

THERE were more great performanc­es from Dundee Hawkhill and Perth Strathtay athletes.

At the RAM ( Ram Tubulars Scotland Ltd.) League final in Aberdeen, Hawkhill’s senior men, senior women and U/17 men all came first, joint first in the case of the U/17s, with another six Hawks teams being in the top three.

The women’s success broke Aberdeen’s 15-year winning streak.

The U/20 men also came away with a 4x400 metres club record, and there were a few personal bests, too.

U/15 athlete Megan Gowans was awarded the Best Performing Female Track prize for being first in the 100 and 200 metres.

Three Strathtay age groups competed, the U/11 boys being joined by the U/15 and U/17 girls.

Winners were Lauryn Wood and Rebekah Rose, who completed t heir unbeaten throws results for the entire series.

April Heggie was in fine form for the second day in a row, winning her javelin competitio­n and throwing another personal best.

The previous day, at the last Throws Grand Prix event of the year in Livingston, April finished second with a personal best i n t he U/17 discus.
