Call for bridge HQ upgrade

-

A CALL has been made for a new HQ f or t he Tay Bridge that is in keeping with the new £1 billion Waterfront.

Speaking at a meeting of the Tay Bridge Joint Board, Lib Dem councillor Fraser Macpherson said the current offices were more than 50 years old.

He said: “They could do with being upgraded. This is particularly relevant now that the rest of the Wa t e r f ro n t is being upgraded to such a high level.

“I’m aware this can’t be done immediately, but I think it’s something we could begin t o t ake a look at.”

Board convener Councillor Stewart Hunter said he agreed with Mr Macpherson that an upgrade was required.

He said:“I would be very reluctant to see the HQ moved from its current location, which is ideal given its proximity to the bridge itself.

“Hopefully, we will be able to consider upgrading the building at some future date, although there is currently no money budgeted for it.”
