Insight offered into recycling

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

MEMBERS of the public are to be given an insight into recycling facilities in Perth and Kinross in a bid to reduce waste.

The council’s waste services will be holding a number of events with recycling-themed activities until October 1.

The aim of the “Be a Waste Warrior” campaign is to encourage householders to recycle more materials, more often, by raising awareness of the benefits and promoting easy ways to take part.

Activities include tours of Friarton Recycling Centre and Earnside Energy’s facility in Glenfarg on Doors Open Day tomorrow.

There will be a waste awareness talk and games at Bridge of Earn Beaver Scouts on September 26 and information stands in Perth and Blairgowrie.

Councillor Colin Stewart, convener of the local authority’s environment, enterprise and infrastructure committee, said: “If we all recycled just one more drinks can each week, Scottish councils would save £3 million a year.”
