Driver told record ‘is just ut­terly ap­palling’

A DUNDEE man has been jailed at the city’s sher­iff court af­ter his fifth con­vic­tion for driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied.

Grant McGovern, 38, of Dud­hope Court, ad­mit­ted driv­ing while dis­qual­i­fied in Bell Street on Septem­ber 17.

He also ad­mit­ted driv­ing with­out due care and at­ten­tion, mount­ing a kerb, col­lid­ing with metal bar­ri­ers, and re­vers­ing and driv­ing for­wards again, col­lid­ing with the bar­ri­ers and caus­ing dam­age to them and the car he was driv­ing.

McGovern fur­ther ad­mit­ted driv­ing while un­fit through drink or drugs and with­out in­sur­ance.

Sen­tenc­ing McGovern to six months in prison and dis­qual­i­fy­ing him from driv­ing for three years, Sher­iff Derek Reekie said: “Your driv­ing record is just ut­terly ap­palling.”
