Swift second-half response downs Harp

-

IN the GA Cup, Lochee Harp gave Jeanfield a run for their money but a second-half surge by the Perth side saw them run out 3-1 winners.

Fraser Mills gave Swifts the lead in 39 minutes but Harp hit back with an equaliser from Connaire Connelly. However, two goals in the space of five minutes just after the hour mark from Chris Scott and Mills again killed Harp’s hopes.

North End were 2-1 winners over Kinnoull.

The Dokens took the lead in 52 minutes through Andy Ballantyne and, three minutes later, Zak Wilson doubled their advantage.

Kinnoull’s response came too late to make a difference with Greg Whyte netting for the Perth club three minutes into stoppage time.

Due to the home side’s profligacy in front of goal, there was no upset at Blairgowrie where Premier League Kirrie Thistle edged through by the odd goal in three.

Blair passed up several chances only for recent signing Abi Njie to put Thistle ahead midway through the first half with Greg Fairweather getting the visitors’ second just before the break.

Darren Neave did convert a penalty 15 minutes from time but it was too little too late.

Downfield’s poor away form continued i n the Premier League when they went down 3-0 at St Andrews.

Saints’ goals were scored by Daryl Falconer, Scott Lawrie and Ross Cunningham.
