‘Fantastic night’ had by all after Tele helps Rockwell school pals reunite after 47 years

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

THE Rocky Crew rolled back the years with a rather epic reunion — and they even got to see inside the old Rockwell Primary itself!

The occasion was organised by Rosalind Kyle, who went to Rockwell from 1963-70.

She moved away and lived in England for nearly 30 years but returned to Dundee a while back and now works for the city council.

Rosalind never forgot the happy and good times at Rocky and, with the help of the Tele and Facebook, organised a school reunion.

“Thanks to the department we were able to visit the school and I got everyone those tiny milk bottles we used to get at morning break.

“Then we carried on the celebrations into the evening and had a great night at Rewind.

“About 20 people turned up and we’re hoping to have another gathering next year when most of us will have either turned 60 years young or will be about to.

“Each ‘pupil’ got to

keep their milk bottle — with the Rockwell school crest printed on it — and one was even sent out to Spain to a guy who couldn’t make it for the occasion.

Another former pupil travelled from Cheshire, with the rest from surrounding areas of Dundee.

“I can’t thank the Tele enough for its assistance in making this happen as many of us are now in regular contact.

Rosalind said most of those who attended hadn’t seen their old classmates for 47 years. It was absolutely fantastic and the night at Rewind was brilliant.”
