Charlie steps in to fill gap
AN award-winning young fiddle player has stepped in at the last minute to perform at a Gaelic concert in Dundee.
Charlie Stewart, the current BBCYoung Traditional Musician of the Year, will be appearing at Soup ’n’ Song in the Marryat Hall tomorrow.
He replaces concertina player Mohsen Amini, who was forced to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.
Charlie has been playing the fiddle since he was nine years old and is a student at the at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
He was praised for his “moving and spirited” performance which won him the coveted BBC title.
Joining him on the bill is guitarist Craig Irving, from BBC Radio 2 Folk Awardwinning trio Talisk.
Soup ’n’ Song is a series of lunchtime Gaelic concerts run by Leisure and Culture Dundee with the suppor t of Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Dundee Festival Trust.
Tickets are available for £5 from Dundee Box Office.
Soup is served at 1.30pm, with the concert starting at 2pm.
