North End’s march to the title continues

-

NORTH End made it 15 North League wins in a row with a 2-0 win in a re-arranged match against Scone Thistle at North End Park.

The victory stretched their lead over second-placed Violet to eight points and few would bet against them going on to clinch promotion.

Nathan Scott gave them a half-time lead and Frankie Devine made sure with a second after the break.

Blairgowrie ran out 5-1 winners at home to Forfar Albion.

The Berrypickers broke the deadlock midway through the first half thanks to Ryan Menzies.

Three more followed before the break with Gary Axworthy, Ian Plenderleith and James Simpson on target.

Adam Fraser pulled one back for Albion early in the second half but Matt Adam completed the Blair rout 10 minutes time.

Newburgh may have been left idle but there was plenty of activity at East Shore Park on Saturday with new boss Scott Hudson returning to his former club Strathmiglo United AFC and bringing in four new players.

The arrival of Gavin Reilly, Jamie Gay, Kyle Fraser and Kurtis McKenzie bring different attributes to the ’Burgh squad.

RESULT of the week — NORTH END’S relentless march towards the North League title goes on following their 2-0 home win over Scone Thistle in a re-arranged game.
