Snowboarder dies

A BRITISH snowboarder has suffocated after falling into the snow head first.

The 25-year-old man, who has not been named, was working in the French Alps resort of Meribel when the incident took place.

Emergency services were called following reports of a snowboarder falling off-piste. News reports said investigations were under way after the man was thought to have died by asphyxiation, after not being able to release himself after falling into the snow.
