Clothes clean-out plea
MEMBERS of the public are being urged to clean out their wardrobes and donate previously loved or unworn clothes to Barnardo’s shops in Arbroath and Montrose.
A Barnardo’s study found Britons could be hoarding more than 640 million items of clothing that they no longer wear.
With industry estimates suggesting garments in charity shops change hands for 15% of their original prices, the haul could be worth more than £760 million.
Carole Robertson, Barnardo’s business manager for the charity’s outlets in Scotland, said: “So many people have items of clothing in their wardrobes which have rarely or never been worn and so are in really good condition.
“Donating these pieces helps us to raise vital funds.”
