Challenge to get people fit

Evening Telegraph (First Edition) - - Uk World Today -

IT’S fantastic to see efforts to get more people active in Dundee, particularly children in schools and nurseries (see pages 4&5).

The more difficult folk to get involved, though, may be their parents and grandparents.

While the strategy can be implemented in a controlled environment when kids are in education, it’s a choice for older people whether or not they take the advice on board and become more active in their daily lives.

For many, simply finding the time to get involved in physical activity is a challenge in itself – and then there is the cost of joining a gym or paying to use leisure facilities.

But if those behind the strategy can show people that increasing exercise need not cost a lot of money or take a lot of time, they may be able to make the strategy a success.

And if older folk lead the way, younger people are more likely to follow in their footsteps.
