Montrose’s Helicopter Saturday
MONTROSE sealed the Ladbrokes League Two title in dramatic fashion on Saturday with a 1-1 draw with Elgin City enough to see them over the line.
The Gable Endies went into the final day three points ahead of closest rivals Peterhead who downed Edinburgh City 2-1 to push Stewart Petrie’s side to the wire.
However, they held out and the helicopter carrying the trophy landed in Angus to crown Montrose for the first time in over 30 years.
Petrie said: “Three years ago, the club were on the brink of losing their Scottish League place and to get where we are now has taken a lot of effort from many people.
“The league win is a proud thing for the club.”
