Three on in­quiry short­list

THREE po­ten­tial chairs of the in­de­pen­dent in­quiry into NHS Tay­side’s men­tal health ser­vices have been in­den­ti­fied, the health board has an­nounced.

All three can­di­dates are said to be in­ter­ested in the role, and will be in­vited to meet with fam­i­lies and stake­hold­ers be­fore a fi­nal de­ci­sion is made on who will lead the re­view.

Board chair­man John Brown and chief ex­ec­u­tive Mal­colm Wright com­mis­sioned the i nquiry i nto men­tal health ser­vices fol­low­ing a cam­paign by the fam­i­lies of David Ram­say and Dale Thom­son. Both men took their own lives hav­ing been seen by the Car­se­view Cen­tre over their men­tal well­be­ing.

Mr Brown said: “It i s im­por­tant the peo­ple of Tay­side know that we are mak­ing progress and we will keep ev­ery­one up­dated as we fi­nalise ar­range­ments.

“Al­though t he ti mescales for the in­quiry will be agreed in the Terms of Ref­er­ence, it would be our in­ten­tion that there is an in­terim re­port pro­vided to Tay­side NHS Board by the end of Sep­tem­ber.”
