Pupils might need phones
I’M not too delighted about UK Culture Secretary Matt Hancock impelling head teachers to ban pupils from having mobile phones while at school.
If responsibly managed, phones are a boon. Mobile phones are perhaps the greatest invention of all time, with no age barrier on their ownership.
Pupils might need their phone in the event of an emergency.
What the culture minister should ban is pedestrians idly scrolling while strolling, ie face embedded in a mobile screen, totally indifferent and impervious to the feelings of others, as if manipulating a toy.
Phone use is not for zombies.
