T WO people have been charged after a suspected knife attack in Perth.

Part of Crieff Road was on lockdown yesterday after a man was reportedly slashed.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said today that two people have been charged and are due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court tomorrow.

He added that scenes of crime officers would be carrying out inquiries in the area today.

Witnesses claimed a man was seen soaked in blood near to the shopping district on Crieff Road at around 4pm.

The male victim was attacked in neighbouring Viewfield Place before police swarmed the area.

Large crowds of onlookers gathered while the area was sealed off and the male was rushed to hospital.

In a police statement, Inspector Martin Pattie thanked members of the public for their cooperation as they carried out inquiries.

The i nspector added that the matter was a “contained incident” and there was no immediate threat to the wider public.

One resident, who declined to be named, said there was still a visible police presence as he made his way to work today.

The resident said: “Several police officers searched the nearby Lade waterway yesterday.

“They would not confirm they were looking for a weapon.

“The incident is believed to have happened at around 4pm and, late into the night, Viewfield Place was still shut off with police in attendance.

“They were paying particular attention to a flat in a block at the end of the street.

“At one point yesterday 12 police vehicles and several ambulance personnel attended the incident.”

Another resident believed the injured party may have worked for a business in the area.
