Ex-school going under hammer

Evening Telegraph (Late Extra Edition) - - PUZZLES -

A FORMER Kirkcaldy school is back on the market, three years after it was sold to a property developer.

The old Abbotshall Infant School on the corner of Ramsay Road will go under the hammer at an auction in Edinburgh on September 13.

It is being sold by Future Property Auctions with a guide price of £85,000.

The C-listed building is said to offer vast potential for future development, such as housing.

The auctioneers have also suggested a residential care home, offices or retail as alternative uses.

The site was bought by Edinburgh-based Brel Properties in 2014 for just over £70,000.

Speculation was high at that time that part of it was to be used for nursery provision and the remainder for housing, but neither materialised.

Accommodation includes the original 1898 stone school building and two modern prefabricated buildings, plus the former playground, which extends to more than an acre.
